Maybe you’ve thought about it and maybe you haven’t, but you really don’t need to be stuck in a rut of eating the same old thing… do you know there are yummy alternatives to wheat flour?
Wheat flour is not good, whether it’s whole-grain, wholemeal or whatever… it packs on the weight, inflammation and spikes your blood sugar. The whole-grain flour is a better option, or it would be if it wasn’t adulterated by GMO, and if it were more like what our ancestors used to eat.
Modern isn’t always good I’m afraid. Sadly as they have fiddled around with wheat they have created something that is very high in gluten… and therein lies the big gluten problem that so many seem to have.
Just looking to gluten-free products is not good enough neither, because many of the flours they use also pack on the weight.
When I began to learn about the various flours that are available I went off and bought a bit of this and a bit of that, but really I’ve reduced the flours I use now down to what I regard as the main two. I’m not saying they are the only flours I’d recommend, I’m only saying that these are the ones I use most of all:
- Coconut Flour
- Almond Flour
I find both these flours make really delicious, scrumptious things so I don’t deviate very much.
Coconut is so good that it really should be a staple in everyone’s diet. From baked goods to milkshakes you can’t go wrong with coconut.
I believe that all baked goods should be treated as a treat. It’s good to have treats to look forward to, but don’t get yourself so excited about all the wonderful things you can bake, even though they are truly good for you, that you begin to eat a truck load. That’s no way to see weight dissolve off your hips!
Really it’s the same with all foods. Don’t go overboard with any of them no matter how good they are for you. Remember variety is definitely the key. It’s so easy to whip up something with these great alternatives to wheat flour, that you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it ages ago!
