Do You Know The Foods That Cause Aging?

Wholegrain breads and cakes cause you to age faster

Looks yummy but is it worth it?

Unfortunately, many of the foods that cause aging are marketed to you deceptively by the giant “healthy” food corporations. How to age with our health still in tact is on the hearts of just about all of us.  Wouldn’t it be great to have an idea of which foods are causing us to age?

Did you know these same foods also harm your blood sugar and cause your skin and joints to age faster too?

Are you aware that if you knew WHICH foods to avoid, you could look between 5-10 years YOUNGER than your real age?

OK, let’s take some simple steps to a healthier life and find out what we should and should not be eating.

Most have no idea what food they should or should not eat

In fact, we have a better understanding of the necessary food for our cars than we do for our own bodies.  Queer, but true!

Goats eats all kinds of things but why do we eat foods that cause aging?

The goat’s eating my dress!

Virtually every animal, bird, insect and fish knows what to eat for its own good.  Have you ever thought about that?  In most cases they are quite happy sticking to their own food and they don’t deviate.  I can think of an example of an animal that gets a little carried away… and that’s a goat!

Now with our vehicles we all understand which fuel to put in the tank.  What if we thought it only had to be a liquid and not a specific liquid.  Imagine if we thought we could use water, or fruit juice, or maybe a milkshake or two.  Surely this sounds ridiculous to us…I mean, who would do that?  We care more for our hip pocket than to be that careless!  For a healthy car you need to use what makes it healthy… and you cannot deviate away from that… anything else will definitely make the car sick and cost a lot of money to get it fixed.  None of us would be that stupid!

So why do we treat ourselves in this way?

Why do we care so little?

If we’re thirsty we drink whatever is in the fridge, without a thought of whether the drink is going to do us good or not. Doesn’t it make sense that we only drink (and eat) those things that build health?

You see the truth is, if we don’t there will come a day when we will have to dig deep to pay all the medical bills… they surely will come.  The only difference between us and our car is that it will happen with the car a lot sooner… I mean, immediately!  Our bodies are amazing in the battering they can take… but a day comes when the price for the fuel you are eating and drinking will be paid.

None of us wants to get old, I’m sure you’ll agree.

We want to keep going and be healthy all the days of our lives.  But it’s not going to happen if we don’t work at it.  Wouldn’t you rather go to sleep one night in your old age and simply “pass on over”, rather than having your life filled with sickness and disease because you didn’t bother to give a thought to the fuel you were consuming?

Some of our foods are worse than others and we need to know what is what.  There are some foods which need to be totally removed from our diet if we want to maintain any type of health, and as an added bonus, once they’re gone you’ll begin to look and feel a lot younger. That’s got to be good!    You’ll most probably begin to lose weight and you won’t be quite the target for disease that you are now if you are consuming these foods.

Are we to become rabbits?

Does this mean we have to live on “rabbit food” forever?  This is the kind of thought many have when faced with the challenge about their food.  “Rabbit food” aca salads, vegetables and fruit needs to definitely be a part of our healthy diet, but there are countless other foods we can have daily which I don’t think the rabbits would be interested in.

Click here to find out what common everyday foods we are nearly all eating, that are causing our bodies to age faster… you may be surprised!

Did you already know this information?  If so, can you share with us some of the changes you noticed when you eliminated them from your diet?  We’d love to hear from you… leave a comment below.

We are all keen to know how to age with our health right up into our 80’s, 90’s and beyond, so learning about foods that cause aging is a very big leap in the right direction!  Really it’s just the simple steps to a healthier life, and hopefully to a long and happy life.  You are to be congratulated for making the choice!

Warm regards,
Marilyn Williams shares her experience of the difference it made when she concentrated on building her health rather than trying to lose weight

  1. I sure would love to know about the foods that prevent us from aging because it would be great to keep my youthful looks for a little longer 🙂

Shaving off 5 – 10 years would be a massive improvement for anyone!

I can totally see where you’re coming from with watching our food intake, and I certainly wouldn’t want to be limited to Rabbit food either! LOL.

I’ll certainly check out your link because it will be interesting to read about the toxic foods we eat.

    Thanks!
    Neil

    • Thanks for commenting Neil. Sorry I’m a couple days late getting back to you but haven’t been able to get into it quite the way I like to because of floods etc. Not that they’ve immediately affected our home but more the place my husband works… and he’s been home… and therefore, well, you know what I mean!

I’m glad to see you are interested in the foods you eat, or don’t eat. These days, most of the foods consumed are not what they seem. Virtually everything is fake, one way or another. But, there is still plenty of good wholesome food for us if we don’t get drawn into the hype of “lesser food”… which unfortunately a lot of it is.

Yes, it would be tough to have to “rabbit food” every day but of-course, that’s not the case. Anything that grows in the ground or on trees, and is untouched by humans “improving them” is good tucker! Eating good food keeps our whole body more healthy and therefore more youthful.

I advise you to keep watching as I have some pretty exciting stuff coming up…

      Thanks again, Marilyn

  2. Hi Marilyn,

My wife is very cautious with what she eats and I have always been told to take “proper” food and take what is needed and necessary. I am not particular with food and my crazy working lifestyle has made me eat whatever I can easily get some fast food restaurants.

Everyone is afraid of getting old and I admit that. Your article here is very educational and informative. It makes me stop and think about it. You are doing a great job in educating layman like me. Keep up the good work and I will come back for sure!

    Regards,
    Alex

    • Hi Alex… thanks for taking the time to leave a comment… much appreciated.

It’s funny isn’t is how we say “yeah, yeah, yeah… ok” to our partners without taking too much notice. Sometimes it takes someone not related to spur us into thinking about what our partner has been telling us all along. Good on her!

My husband has told me the same kind of thing.

We do have choices though… everything we eat or drink is by choice. Some are good and some are bad… our choice what we do to our bodies. 🙂

  4. Hi Marilyn,

Great article, I real enjoyed reading it!
I used to eat a lot of cakes, sugar, meat, and so many junk food until I made the decision to stop and eat properly . Your article is absolutely very helpful and will definitely help many people to eat healthier 🙂
Thank you for this informative blog

    • Hi Daniella, thanks for commenting with your thoughts. I’m impressed to know you made the decision to eat properly. Many times people know that’s what they should do, but most take the easy way, which is to do the things you’ve always done.

I hope that as I write of my own experiences that it really will help others too.

  5. I am always cautious about the food I eat but reading this article will make me even more cautious

Its a fact that busy lifestyles and make us lazy in making decisions about the foods we eat.

We get bloated stomachs headaches bad skin and just cover the effects with over the counter remedies that put even more crap in our bodies.

Making educated choices is the answer and sites like yours help us do just that

    Great Job

    Tim

    • Thanks for that Tim! The encouragement to keep on going is always welcome. Like you say “caution” is actually a very good word because most of us don’t think at all about what we eat. In fact, how many times do we eat without any conscious thought of it at all? Watching TV for example. We pay the price of-course. Thanks again.

  6. I was recently looking into Cooking Oils High in Omega-6 and sugar due to the fact a mate of mine found out they were absolutely terrible for aging fast!
What I found out was astonishing – sunflower, corn, safflower, cottonseed….the list goes on and on and it’s not good news.
This is a great article – backing up what I was looking into earlier this week

    • Thanks for that Chris. You are quite right, there are a lot of foods that cause you to age faster than you want to, and they are all foods that should be eliminated from your diet. It’s like swiping your arm across a certain section of the panty and knocking them all into the bin! The main problem is that all these particular food ingredients are in just about every packet, tin or bottle you can find. It’s not pretty. We just need to do the best we can. I’m so glad you are looking seriously into it…a great move. 🙂

  7. Hi Marilyn,
Thanks for bringing this topic up for discussion. Sometimes we need a wake up call about our lifestyle choices.

I think that like so many other areas of our lives these days, we choose the foods we consume based on what’s convenient and most satisfying at the time.

We should slow down, educate ourselves on what our bodies need and then make better choices.
It may sound easier said than done, but if we don’t invest in our own well-being, who will?

    • Exactly, who will? That’s why I say… attack one area at a time and work on that. Get that established in your life and then go for something else. We have to begin to make sensible healthy choices because if we don’t a time will come when our choices will catch up with us. There is no-one else out there looking out for you… no-one at all. But isn’t it good that we can take control?

  8. This is a beautiful and well written post. It is educative and informative. Aging is a natural process but the process can be unduly hastened.
It is amazing that many people care more for what goes into their motor vehicles than what goes into their stomach. And this has been the primary cause of the so many diseases being witnessed these days. The giant food corporations are deceptively making people look older than their real age. I believe that the more a food is to nature the better it is for our health.

    • You are so right Sam! We’ve got to learn to eat “natural” food as much as possible and leave all the jars, cans and packets sitting on the supermarket shelves.

Many people look after their car like it was a baby and only give it the best of treatment. How much better off they would be to treat their body with the same care. In many ways people generally have been “dragged up” in life which includes eating whatever… rather than “brought up” and taught what their body actually needs.

The big food companies would not be making all the junk if we didn’t buy it. Imagine if some miracle happened and everyone immediately became conscious of eating healthy. Virtually all those food companies would go out of business overnight! No-one would buy their food. What do you think they would do? If they were still able too survive, they would want to rush to produce true healthy food. Ha-ha… I don’t think that’s going to happen but it’s true – they are only interested in making money, and if junk food does it, than so be it.

  9. Hi Marilyn, really interesting article. The link to the The 5 Most Dangerous Lies You’ve Been Told About Bread too. Makes you think about, why there are so many people suffering from stomach and intestinal problems, disturbed blood sugar levels. Looking back to the headspring of humanity, it’s quite easy to tell where our digestive system is made for. Fruits and seeds, nuts and water. And when we where lucky those day, we would be fortunate to catch some meat, perhaps once a month. Those few things would keep us alive and healthy. If they would invent sugar these days, it surely would end up on the “forbidden food list” don’t you think?
    Loes

    • Indeed I do Loes! You are quite right as we can learn a lot from “looking back”. I do think a little meat is ok but the problem is people have to have it every day. Our poor digestive systems struggle to cope. The same goes with breads etc… it’s a staple in the diet (or so people think) and once it gets on the inside of us our digestive system has to try and cope with glue! Icky picky! Occasionally I’ll have a slice of sourbread but I try to keep right away from “normal” bread as it brings on acid reflux in a hurry.

I think we all like “sweet” but once again it shouldn’t be with almost everything we eat. Most of our problems come from the fact that we are over the top with certain foods rather than eating the variety of foods that are available to us.

Thanks for coming and sharing your thoughts with me. 🙂

  10. Interesting article and certainly food for thought!
I have always tried to eat healthy and tend to limit my intake of wheat based products as too much can make me feel sluggish. I didn’t realise that certain foods might age you and I shall certainly delve a little further for more information.
What other foods would you recommend we remove from our diets? I’d sure like to look a little younger 😉

    • Good, that’s exactly what I wanted to see… to make people think about how they are treating their bodies. A general list can be found here: http://workwithmarilyn.com/safest-foods-to-eat/. It’s all about making choices as there is an alternative for just about every type of food.

For example, right now I’m sipping on a Lemon, Honey & Ginger tea. As I’m visiting my sick sister I had two choices of honey – one in a plastic jar and another in glass. I chose the glass. Why? Because foods in plastic tend to leach chemicals from the plastic into the food. Then there is another choice on top of that: raw honey or refined honey that’s been heated. Choose raw. Unfortunately she doesn’t have any raw. But as you can see, it’s a matter of choosing the best option. When it’s up to you (in your home) always make sure you have the best… take the time to learn as there are many pitfalls. 🙂

  11. Good analogy you have taken my site and zoomed in on a topic and personally I think it will be really informative and also the reader will relate to it well. It is a well structured post I particularly liked how your about me comes across as open and honest good job on the site indeed 🙂

    • Thank you Simon for your thoughts which I really appreciate. I’m trying to make the whole site be natural, open and honest as you say… I really do want people to challenge their way of living which most never give any thought to.

  12. why do u say foods age me? doesn’t make sense!

    • Oh! There are certain foods we can eat that cause inflammation on the inside and this in turn brings about symptoms of aging. This includes all junk foods which no matter how we look at it they don’t do our bodies good. Bread is particularly bad also. Do you realise there are foods you can eat that actually reverse the aging process and we can look younger than we actually are?
