How do bulk dehydrated foods help my regime?
Part of the regime I’m using to achieve my goal is to dry some foods. I really love the incredible taste of dehydrated foods, such as apples for example. A friend of mine gave me some bags of pears off her tree (no spray, nice and organic :-)) but as she picked them while they were still quite hard and green I was unsure how good they would be for dehydrating. Anyway, I decided to do some to see how they went. Wow! The taste was very morish! Nice and chewy and as sweet as you’d like them. Quite surprising, I wouldn’t have expected it from how hard they were.
It gives me good quality snacks
One of the things I want is to have some good quality snacks… not to go overboard on, but you know what it’s like… sometimes you just want to chew something. Now with my dehydrator at least, you can change the temperature, and what I find it particularly helpful for is I can dry at a low enough temperature to keep the enzymes alive. Sure it means you have to do it longer, but I feel this is the only way to go. Keep the food as close to nature as possible, and that means raw. I don’t want to cook it. All you do is remove the water from it, keeping everything else in tact. Makes them super healthy – that’s the plan.
I have an Ezidri dehydrator which comes with 5 racks, but can actually take up to 30 racks… that’s one heck of a lot of food.
So far I’ve dehydrated:
These are what I can remember doing off the top of my head. I’m getting organized now to do a lot more… I’ll let you know how it goes.
Do you do any bulk dehydrated foods? You know, when the fruit is in season and you can get a truck load of it. If so, why not tell us about it. Or if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
